No Post in 4 Months? (lol)

lol @ no posts in 4 months. Been up to different things during these 4 months: school, playing different games, getting games but not actually finishing them (just trying them out), etc.

To elaborate on the 'games' topic, and a shoutout to the Yiao-Man:
I recently found the Total War series, and they are completely amazing. This series combine the use of turn-based strategy with real-time tactics. It uses TBS(turn-based strategy) when the player is dealing with the entire map, where the player is enabled to move large amount of troops at the same time. During the TBS phase, the player can also develop/organize his army or cities that is under his current control. In other words, TBS phase = big picture.

Onto the RTT (real-time tactics) phase. Some, or rather most, people are easily confused between RTT and RTS (real-time strategy). The major difference between RTS and RTT is that in RTS, the player(s) gather minerals and use those minerals to construct buildings and produce units. On the other hand, player(s) in RTTs are given a certain amount of units, and with those units (usually soldier/battle units), they have to defeat the enemy or accomplish their current mission. Having this unit limitation, RTTs require much more micromanagement of units during battles. Also, in RTTs, the gathering of minerals rarely exist. Even if they do exist, the amount of minerals each player owns will not have much effect on the outcome of battle.

Some RTT examples are: Dawn of War series, Supreme Commander, Company of Heroes series, and Close Combat series.

There are, however, some games that are made about once every century that combines both RTS and RTT together - a famous example: StarCraft. While players are required to gather minerals to produce different types of units, the players are also required to pay as much attention on micromanagement of units during battle as in any other RTT game. For example: there is one famous player, being extremely skilled in micro-ing Terran marines. With only 8-10 marines(side note: marines are the first basic units of the Terran race), he is able to kill 12-15 Hydralisks/Mutalisks (medium-to-high rank of Zerg units, mutalisks being fly units). Usually, it takes around 2-3 marines to kill 1 hydra/muta, yet he is able to kill off more enemy units than he has. Most importantly, all 12-15 hydras/mutas will die, and only 1-2 of his marines will be dead. *Oh the amazing-ness of StarCraft.*

Back to Total War: I find the Total War series very interesting because I am able to take my time (during TBS-phase) to develop my army and bases, while I am also able to experience the stress and intensity of micromanaging each group of units during large-scale battles.

Shoutout to Yiao-Man: GET THE TOTAL WAR SERIES!! (I esp. recommend Medieval 2 Total War and Rome Total War). Or get/try the Dawn of War series. I am being 100% serious -- you will not regret trying these games.

Snow ((Hey Oh)) - Red Hot Chili Peppers

**watch in HD, much better quality

I can play the song on all intstruments!! (Yes, including singing :P) I first played the drums on this song, then moved onto guitar. Took me a while to get the guitar part (it was confusing when I first looked at the part), but once I got the hang of it, I could play without failing :D

Oh man, more drawings

I found another EPIC drawing on BasilMarket. It portrays the 2nd Legendary class, Evan. Evans control dragons, and rather than spells being activated by the characters themselves, they are activated by the dragon.

Here is the picture (the dragon is in its 4th and final stage -- it grows as the character rises in level):

Another one picture I found was at a friend's house (the one whom I played L4D2 at). It's Pikachu :D

Don't you think this picture is just... "LOLWUT"? If you are having a bad day, just take a look at this picture. I'm sure it'll turn your frown upside down.

Left 4 Dead 2!

I went over to a friend's house and played some COD :MW2 and mostly L4D2. I found the online play for both of them fun and amusing, but more in L4D2 (when I play with people who know what they're doing.) Some modes in L4D are fun and interesting, like being able to play as the Infected (zombies), but in order to be effected when infected -- organization within the team is REQUIRED. Otherwise, since the zombies die so easy, the infected team will just "fail." On the other hand, when playing as the Survivors (humans), not as much organization is needed, but communication is still necessary.

It is extremely fun to play with those who care about their teammates and know what they are doing. When you are down (knocked down by a zombie), the other team members are nice enough, or care enough, to come back and get you. When playing with those who don't know where to go/what to do, they're mostly busy with shooting zombies until the their entire screen is cleared (which can never happen, as zombies spawn at a constant rate). As such... they don't come get you until near death.

Overall, I think L4D2 is really fun, especially when playing with friends -- since you know that they will come back for you if you need help.

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays!

It's Christmas time -- Yay!! Wish everyone a merry Christmas and happy holidays! And wanted to post some more drawings I saw (actually done by my school friend). Both drawings are based on MS characters, but they look nothing like them :P

*Note: click pictures to view at full resolution

Portrate: by Michelle
Pirate Jing: by Nathan (my school friend) and Michelle

The drawing of Pirate Jing reminds me so much of Wind Waker from Legend of Zelda.

Wind Waker

And Nathan told me that he draw the outlines of Jing, while Michelle did the coloring. I think it looks fabulous overall, and quite interesting - the style that he uses.

I will go over to my friend's house for dinner/party. My parents say that they planned a "sleepover" at their house because they will drink ._. I thought to myself: can't you just wait an hour or two until you sober up...? But we'll see how it goes. Hope everyone has a great holiday!

Ryu Ho - a Lvl 200 Aran mount

*Note: click on picture to view at full resolution

A drawing of Ryu Ho (of course not done by me), a lvl 200 [wolf] mount in MS. I saw this drawing on a MS-forum that I visit frequently, and wanted to post it to my blog. Many other artists commented on how she (Mandy Lee, the artist) perfectly blends the blue and indigo hues. Others praise that she does an extremely amazing job drawing/coloring the fur on its neck. I think it is amazing -- one of the best animal-drawing ever seen.

Machinarium is Released Today (in Europe)

Game called Machinarium is released today (only in Europe though). But, there is a wonderful thing called The Internet, connecting people all over the world, even those from Europe.

So, as usual, I got this game from the internet. Very interesting game, this one. It's a point-and-click adventure, but is mainly based on solving puzzles in order to progress farther into the game.

Here is a trailer of it to give a general idea of the game:

Also, just finished Call of Duty: Modern Warfare today. Epic ending and supreme and outstanding plot. It runs two plots at the same time, having the player control of "Soap" MacTaverish, a soldier in 22nd SAS; and Sergeant Paul Jackson, part of USMC 1st Force Recon. The gameplay starts, at first, with SAS (British army) and USMC (American army) on its own operations. But near the last 1-2 hours of the game, they join forces and have "Joint Operations." I especially enjoyed those, as I see SAS and USMC working together to stop a leader of the Russian Ultranationalist party, Imran Zakhaev.

(After I finished the game, I thought to myself, No wonder this game was rated 9.2)

Fez... not the hat, but the game

Several weeks ago, actually months ago, I found Fez, an inspirational game created by Polytron.

Here's a preview of it:

ZOMG! Mind-blasting much?

I really want to get that game, but I don't know when it's being released... D:

All I know is that it will be released in 2009.

Some people say it's Super Paper Mario inspired, but I think it's very similar to these games:

Echochrome

Crush

Well... I hope it releases soon!

Will be back to post more

Rock Band: Drums

Rock Band Drums.

Here are some songs that I liked, and can play, on my Rock Band drum kit.
Some of the videos are of full bands because I cannot find the drums along for that song.

Guitar Hero

Someone made a bot for the game, Guitar Hero. It plays all the notes perfectly based on how the game is made. The inventer made it play the hardest song in the game, Through the Fire and Flames.

Here is the video of it:

Counter Strike

Watch it first - comment later!

First Counter-Strike movie ever created (and the best one too)

Soundtrack (Rythm and Beats) made by using gunshot sounds

and another Counter Terrorist vs. Terrorist battle in the map "De_Dust"
